New Tattoos – Tattoo Risks To Consider

Posted by on Monday, 12 March, 2012

Article by William Burnell

There are some tattoo risks to consider when getting new tattoos. While most people have little trouble, some people do suffer from a range of conditions. They range from serious blood borne disease to minor ailments. Some of them can be avoided by finding out about a tattoo artist beforehand but others you will not know about until you have tattoos done. Here are some of the conditions and symptoms you should know about.

1. Blood borne diseases such as hepatitis B and C, tetanus and HIV. These are all serious diseases and can be life-threatening. But they can be avoided by researching tattoo studios before you go to one of them. Ask others for a recommendation. Make sure the artist is registered with your state or local authority.

2. Allergic reactions to the ink are not uncommon. The chemicals in the ink can affect some people. Red ink seems to cause the most problems as it contains metallic dye such as cadmium, iron and mercury, but other colors can cause an allergic reaction in some people. Generally, this is in the form of an itchy rash, which should last only two or three weeks. This can also occur some years later.

3. Skin infection can result from poor aftercare. Reputable studios will give you an aftercare program to follow, which should take care of any potential infection. The main thing is to keep the new tattoo clean as you would any other wound. If the tattoo becomes inflamed and gathering pus you should see a doctor.

4. Bumps, called granulomas, can form over the tattoo. Red tattoos are generally the problem but reactions to other colors can occur.

5. Keloids can also occur in the form of overgrowths of scar tissue. They form over the scar as red or flesh-colored lumps, which do fade over time.

New dyes have been developed to avoid the problems that have occurred in the past but some of these new dyes still affect some people. It is easy to forget that the process of getting new tattoos involves piercing the skin and injecting ink into it. The body is going to react to this as it would to any other wound or injury.

It is normal to have some soreness after a new tattoo but it is a good idea to know what to expect. If you are concerned the wound is not healing as it should, make sure you get medical attention so there are no complications.

SO, the little stars. OK. They were my first tattoo. I’ve since had a lot more done, including one that covers almost half of my back. But that was many years away, about 12 years, when I decided at the age of fifteen to get the little stars, which I thought at the time were totally badass.

When I think back on it now, the whole adventure was so ridiculously not badass. My two best friends and I were sitting around one of our parent’s houses, and thinking about how to fill the holidays. I’m not sure who among us raised the tattoo idea, but once someone had, so began a day where we chased our parents across their various offices and places of work in the city to get their written permission so we could get these tattoos. The en masse jedi mind tricks of teenage girls were clearly working in our favour, when after about four hours we trooped off to a particularly divey shop in a particularly divey part of town, our parents’ signatures in hand.

The dude at the shop was pretty whatever about it all; three clearly over-hyped girls who’d tried smoking a joint first to calm down (to no avail) rocking up to his shop with what we said were notes from our parents (they were!). "What do you want to get?" he asked as we realised we hadn’t thought that far. So of course we ended up getting some flash off the walls. OH MY GOD THAT COULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH WORSE. One flaming skull, please!

I chose the stars, one of my friends got a tiny red loveheart and the other got something which I think I remember was the Egyptian symbol of ‘the soul’s journey through life’? When it was done it resembled tiny squiggled lines which have since all bled into eachother in a pretty blob. We all got them on the same spot on our left hip.

Anyway, as you can see, the ‘artist’ was absolutely terrible. I remember it hurt quite a lot more than I thought it would, and that he pushed down really hard on what it turned out was essentially a blunt needle. Look at the line work! Terrible. In the years since I’ve thought of getting it fixed, or covered over, but really I’d rather preserve the memory.

When I got the add on, that came about when I was getting another piece done a couple of years ago and the artist asked me what my first tattoo was. So I showed him, "I should get an arrow pointing out ‘my first tattoo’," I said.

"If you get that, I’ll do it for free."

"Hahaha!"

"No really."

And so it goes.

How to Remove a Tattoo at Home on Your Own

Posted by on Monday, 27 February, 2012

There are many reasons why people outgrow tattoos. Dolphin ink on your ankle, your lover’s name on your neck, or Chinese symbols may have been totally awesome back in the day, but now feel like complete mistakes. When your tattoo is no longer an expression of you who are, you may be wondering how to get rid of it. If you want it done fast and painful, you can opt for a laser removal. But if you want to know how to remove a tattoo yourself at home, then here is a quick guide on the two main removal creams.

Trichloroacetic acid (TCA)
Before laser was used to zap off your tattoos, the medical community recommended trichloroacetic acid. TCA is often used by dermatologists to get rid of your fine lines, wrinkles, and minor acne scars. Because TCA does not require a prescription, you can easily get it over the counter.

To remove the tattoo, TCA damages the top layer of the skin and relies on the body’s capacity to scar over and shed the old skin. When it scars over, you will be able to peel parts of the color off until the tattoo is almost gone. Apply TCA with a cotton swab directly on your tattoo, taking care not to put it on other parts of your skin. If the tattoo is mostly on the top layer of the skin, then it will be easy to remove. If it is deep inside many skin layers, you will have to repeat the TCA peel multiple times.

The great thing about the TCA peel is that this tattoo removal at home does not hurt as much as most people seem to think. If you feel a sudden burn, then that only means that you will need to decrease the solution strength. Five minutes after applying the tattoo removal cream, the TCA peel should turn into a frosted gray color. Right after, put on the neutralizer, and wash the tattoo with warm soapy water.

Glycolic acid
If you are one of those who feel that how to remove tattoos yourself using glycolic acid is something to be left to the experts, then you are wrong. Just like trichloroacetic acid, glycolic acid will remove the tattoo by peeling the skin. Unfortunately, because it is not as strong as TCA, tattoo removal using glycolic acid takes longer. If you have trouble choosing between the two acids, take into account the sensitivity of your skin.

Instead of just applying the glycolic acid to the top skin layer, you can also opt to inject it for maximum effect. While some people say that you should consult professional help, you can actually do this at home if you are handy with the tattoo gun. Obviously, when the tattoo is located at hard-to-reach areas, consider getting some professional help.

Before you go for expensive laser tattoo removal, consider going for tattoo removal at home first. It is not only affordable, but it is also relatively painless. Additionally, you do not have to go far to find the components you need for how to remove a tattoo. TCA and glycolic acid are always on hand in most places. As always, it is best to seek expert medical opinion before starting on any treatment.

Learn How To Get Rid Of Tattoos That Have Become An Eyesore

Posted by on Friday, 24 February, 2012

Currently, tattoos are much less taboo than they were in the past. People of all ages and demographics have opted to use body art as a very bold method of self-expression. Unfortunately, however, while body art does not generally change much at all, people do. As time passes, a large number of the individuals who bear tattoos discover that they are less and less comfortable with the visual displays that they have placed on their bodies. Luckily, innovations in laser technology and DIY tattoo removal have made it possible for people to retract these bold and supposedly permanent statements.

How To Fade A Tattoo
Over time, a lot of body art will fade naturally on its own. This is why many of the individuals who cherish and respect their body art will have it regularly touched up when adding new tattoos or just as a course of general maintenance. Some time after having received your tattoo you will likely discover that the colors have naturally faded and that many features of the design are no longer as clear as they once were. Sun fading and natural skin shedding can eventually wreck havoc on body art, causing it to look less than stellar. This is by no means an efficient method of tattoo removal for people who sport embarrassing images in very visible places. A tattoo will remain easy to distinguish even after many years have passed. While over the years people have tried many different things for removing permanent body art, many of which have been downright dangerous and excruciating, few of these DIY tattoo removal efforts have produce dvisually pleasing results. Thus, those who wish to get rid of any particular drawing or design will want to invest in a home tattoo removal cream that will slowly break down the colors in the tattoo and the top several layers of skin. Of all the different manners of tattoo removal, this DIY tattoo removal method can be very painstaking and painful, especially if the tattoo removal cream is not chosen carefully.

How To Get Rid Of A Tattoo Using Cream
If opting to use a tattoo removal cream for the DIY tattoo removal process it is important to select a product that has been proven to provide optimal results. Some products work better than others, however, it also remains true that some tattoos are simply more difficult to remove, due to variations in the ink that has been used or the manner of the skin in the area in which the design has been placed. Viewing online before and after images and reading customer testimonials will help people to find an effective and trustworthy product, for which use entails the most minimum amount of pain.

Getting A Tattoo Professionally Removed
The most popular option in tattoo removal is laser removal procedures that will over time, reduce or even eliminate the appearance of unwanted statements or images. While this can be a bit more costly than other methods of eliminating body art, it can also be a much less painful process. The dermatologist or other medical professional will first assess the area to be treated to learn whether or not the laser treatments will be beneficial Laser treatments are performed over several visits to slowly cause the tattoo to disappear. For those wanting to learn how to fade a tattoo or how to get rid of a tattoo, this tends to be the most effective method of doing so and entails only a very moderate amount of pain for the patient.

Tattoos, Tattoo Supplies And Living Life To The Max

Posted by on Friday, 17 February, 2012

Article by Dominic Donaldson

If you are not moving forward in life then you are moving backwards. Life is a journey, an experience, not one of us is perfect, and not one of us goes through life without making mistakes. With that in mind we could all do with being a bit more outgoing, a bit more adventurous and a bit more daring. Sometimes little changes can make life changing revelations in your life that will have long term effects.

Well for myself I decided that 2010 was a year when I would continue to develop rather than stay in the old rut and continue to slip backwards. I made a list of all of the things that I wanted to achieve in 2010, some personal, some work related and created an action plan on a piece of paper.

One of those actions was simply to get a tattoo performed on a particular part of my body. In 2010 I would be celebrating a notable birthday and to celebrate that my journey had took me to this point I thought it would be poignant to mark it with a tattoo.

After speaking to some friends who performed tattoos or had tattoos themselves, we started to work on a design that would be fitting and work out the tattoo supplies that we would need to perform the task. I was staggered at how much preparation had to go into ensuring that we had the appropriate tattoo supplies in stock, I had always just assumed rather stupidly that it was just ink and needles. How wrong I was.

I must admit as we continued to order the various different tattoo supplies from the store online it all started to become increasing real. This was to be my first tattoo and I had obviously heard all of the horror stories from friends who generally had never even been near a tattoo shop in their lives, but I was reassured from my friend who would be performing the tattoo that they were ordering quality authorised tattoo supplies and I had nothing to fear, it would merely be like scratching yourself repeatedly.

A week passed as we waited for the tattoo supplies to arrive and then the moment of truth was upon me, my friends finally got the chance to butcher my body as they said jokingly with a smile. To be honest the tattoo was certainly not as bad as it was made out to be by my negative friends. I think there in itself is a lesson in life, don’t take other people’s word for something go out and experience it yourself then make your own mind up.

What Are Several Of The Diverse Methods To Take Away Tattoos

Posted by on Wednesday, 15 February, 2012

It is not difficult to find thousands of men and women each year undergo tattoo removal procedures after ultimately regret getting them. Following the initial excitement and joy, a large number of individuals realize that they have committed a blunder and would like the tattoo eliminated. Tattoo removal has right now become a million dollar industry. There are numerous methods for getting rid of tattoo. Some of the tattoo removal strategies happen to be:

Cover-Ups

Within this tattoo cover up technique, old tattoo is swapped out by a new tattoo. Many people choose covering-up of their tattoo rather than removing tattoos totally as covering-up tattoo is comparatively less unpleasant, affordable and does not take many months to treat. Some experienced tattoo artists actually focus on cover-ups and supply outstanding results. Nevertheless, you have restricted alternatives in cover-ups. The largest disadvantage of this approach is that cover-up tattoos can be done only one time.

Excision

Anesthetic is shot, and the tattoo is cut out of the skin by using a scalpel. Thereafter the encompassing skin is stitched back together. The process is ideal for smaller tattoos exclusively. Though big tattoos may also be eliminated however then skin grafts are often required for large tattoo removal. wfcin99. Those who undergo this process are incredibly vulnerable to an infection and scarring.

Salabrasion

Salabrasion is really a centuries-old strategy. Anesthetic is used to numb the area to end up being treated. Then salt-water solution is applied onto the tattoo. The area is then abraded along with a tool similar to what is used in the dermabrasion process. The method works well only when it comes to superficial tattoos as well as requires numerous treatments. This technique is successful only in fading the tattoo rather than totally removing it.

Dermabrasion

The area to end up being treated is frozen and then your skin where the tattoo is located is rubbed as well as scratched with a circular abrasive brush or diamond fraise. It gets rid of the top couple of layers of skin and finally tattoo is removed as the sanding will go deeper into the skin. The operation is very painful and usually happens to be inadequate as it causes the skin to lose blood and may possibly leave a scar. There is always the potential risk of an infection.

Tattoo Removal Creams

A tattoo removal cream is the most affordable way to get rid of a tattoo yourself. Market is overloaded with numerous creams for example TatBGone as well as Tattoo-off that declare to end up being effective in fading tattoos. There are statements that most of these creams might fade a tattoo after a continuous usage of many months but their achievement at removing a tattoo completely is highly unlikely.

Laser Tattoo Removal

Laser tattoo removal is considered as the best method among all to eliminate undesirable tattoos. Although it is high priced and requires numerous sessions, however at the end of the day it makes sure that the operation is fairly painless and bloodless. In this particular procedure, targeted tattoo is actually subjected to the intense pulses of light delivered by laser. This laser energy results in deterioration of the ink pigment while making certain minimum damage to the surrounding skin.

The level of popularity of laser tattoo treatment is skyrocketing and plenty of individuals are embracing this dependable approach to tattoo removal.
